Add a password to a PDF before you send contracts, statements, CVs or other private documents. The file is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest PDF encryption, and can only be opened with your password.

How to password-protect a PDF

1. Upload your PDF.
2. Enter a password (4 to 64 characters). Use the eye button to check what you typed.
3. Click Convert and download the protected PDF.
4. Share the password with the recipient separately, for example by phone or message.

Choosing a good password

Use at least 10 characters, mixing words, numbers and symbols, and do not reuse passwords from other accounts. Keep the password somewhere safe: an encrypted PDF cannot be opened without it, and it cannot be recovered.
