What is the difference between AAC and WAV?
AAC is a compressed format: it removes sounds that are hard to hear to keep files small, which is why it is used for streaming, iTunes and phones. WAV stores audio as raw PCM samples without compression. Converting AAC to WAV does not bring back removed details, but it gives you a file that every editor can open and that will not lose more quality when you edit and save it again.
